Advantage Plus: NYCF's In-House Review Platform
Every feature, one flat rate. AI-assisted queues, privilege workflows, redaction tools, and production handoff included from day one, with no per-feature charges and no AI surcharges. Built specifically for the demands of New York litigation.
What This Solves
Most review platforms sold to NY law firms charge separately for AI tools, advanced analytics, translation, transcription, and collaboration features. The costs compound quickly, budgets are hard to predict, and procurement takes weeks. Partners end up managing vendor contracts and negotiating AI addendums instead of managing the review. Associate time gets consumed tracking down access to features that should have been available from day one.
NYCF built Advantage Plus specifically to eliminate that problem for New York litigation teams. One workspace, one price, every feature included. Your team can configure AI-assisted queues on the day the workspace opens without unlocking a separate module or approving an additional budget line. For law firms billing their clients for eDiscovery costs, flat-rate pricing means predictable pass-through costs and no unpleasant surprises at the invoice stage.
The Platform: Built for Real Review
Advantage Plus is designed around how NY litigation support teams actually work: fast prioritization, clear privilege decisions, auditable quality control, and production outputs that opposing counsel and New York courts accept without dispute. The platform handles standard email and document formats alongside modern messaging data from Slack, Teams, and similar collaboration tools, displaying threaded conversations in their native context rather than flattening them into disconnected individual messages.
All AI functions in the platform are explainable and human-controlled. Reviewers see why a document was placed in a particular queue; they can confirm, correct, or override the AI's categorization at any time. The platform generates an audit log of every AI-assisted decision and every human correction, which supports defensibility in SDNY, EDNY, and NY Commercial Division proceedings. There are no black-box scores and no opaque rankings. NYCF can produce a complete record of how the AI was configured, validated, and applied for any given matter if opposing counsel or the court asks for it.
AI-Assisted Review Queues
The platform uses validated, explainable AI to prioritize documents for human review. Rather than working through a linear queue, the AI identifies documents most likely to be responsive, most likely to involve privilege, and most likely to require special handling, then routes them accordingly. Reviewers confirm or correct those suggestions, and each correction feeds back into the model to improve subsequent queue accuracy.
Training sets are documented, validation metrics are tracked, and the platform records which model version was active for each review session. That documentation matters when opposing counsel challenges the methodology in a SDNY or EDNY proceeding. Under FRCP Rule 26 and the case law developing around technology-assisted review, parties are expected to be able to describe and defend their review methodology. Advantage Plus is built to provide that documentation without additional effort at the time of production.
The AI includes responsiveness queues with explained confidence scores, privilege and near-privilege routing with human confirmation, hot document identification for early case strategy, iterative model refinement based on reviewer feedback, and validation reports showing precision, recall, and elusion metrics.
Privilege and Clawback Workflows
Privilege review is where production disputes most often originate in NY commercial litigation. Advantage Plus gives teams a structured workflow for identifying attorney-client communications, work product, and other protected material before production. Privilege logs are built automatically from reviewer decisions, capturing document identifiers, privilege grounds, dates, parties, and a description field for each withheld document, in the format that NY Commercial Division rules and federal local rules expect.
For matters where counsel has entered a Federal Rule of Evidence 502(d) clawback order (increasingly common in SDNY and EDNY matters with large data sets), the platform supports that strategy directly. Inadvertently produced materials can be flagged, clawback notices generated, and the affected documents tracked through the return or destruction process. The clawback log becomes part of the matter record, providing clear documentation if the issue comes before the court.
Redaction and Sensitive Data Tools
Redaction in Advantage Plus is applied to the rendered document, not to metadata fields, so what the receiving party sees matches what was intended. Redaction reasons are recorded for each applied mark. The platform supports pattern-based automated redaction for categories such as Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, and personal health identifiers, which reviewers confirm before those documents are cleared for production.
This matters for NY practice in particular: the NY SHIELD Act and DFS Cybersecurity Regulation (23 NYCRR 500) impose specific obligations around personal data, and productions in matters touching regulated industries require careful attention to what personally identifiable information appears in produced documents. Redaction logs accompany production sets and document every redaction applied, the reviewer who approved it, the reason code, and the date.
Modern Data: Messaging, Audio, and Video
Slack channels, Microsoft Teams threads, and similar collaboration tools are now central to how business communication happens at NYC firms and financial institutions. Traditional review platforms extract messages as individual files and lose their conversational context. Advantage Plus renders modern messaging data in threaded, chronological conversation view, so reviewers see the actual exchange rather than isolated messages that lack meaning without their surrounding context.
Audio and video files are transcribed within the platform. Transcripts are time-coded and searchable, and the original media is preserved and accessible alongside the transcript. This matters in matters involving recorded calls, Zoom meetings, board meeting recordings, and voicemail, all of which have become standard eDiscovery targets in NY commercial and securities litigation.
Progress Reporting and Collaboration
Partners and supervising attorneys in NY firms need current numbers, not end-of-day summaries forwarded through a project manager. Advantage Plus provides real-time progress dashboards showing documents reviewed, documents remaining, responsiveness rates, privilege rates, and daily throughput by reviewer and by document category. Team leads can identify bottlenecks and adjust staffing without waiting for a status call.
Multiple team members work in the same workspace simultaneously. Comments, questions, and escalation flags are tracked within the platform and remain part of the matter record. This reduces the parallel email threads about specific documents that create inconsistency risks and complicate privilege log preparation.
Review Platform Process
Workspace Setup
NYCF configures the review workspace with the ingested data set, applies deduplication and email threading, sets up user accounts and access permissions, and confirms that all data has loaded completely before review begins. For matters with tight court-ordered production deadlines, workspace setup can be completed on an expedited basis.
Review Protocol Design
Working with counsel, NYCF defines the responsiveness criteria, privilege grounds, confidentiality designations, and any special handling categories before a single document is reviewed. The protocol is documented and kept as part of the matter record, satisfying the disclosure expectations of SDNY and EDNY ESI management orders and NY Commercial Division Rule 11-c.
AI-Assisted Queue Configuration
The AI model is seeded with the review protocol and an initial training set. Queue parameters are configured, validation testing is run against a known sample, and results are confirmed with counsel before the model is applied to the full data set. The training and validation records are preserved for disclosure if the review methodology is challenged.
Privilege Workflow Setup
Privilege queue parameters, privilege log fields, and clawback tracking settings are configured to match the specific privilege grounds asserted in the matter and any court orders in place. If a Rule 502(d) order is active, the platform is configured to flag inadvertent productions and generate required notice documentation automatically, keeping counsel in compliance with the order's terms.
Quality Control
A statistically valid sample of completed review work is checked by senior reviewers before production. QC findings are documented, discrepancies are corrected, and the QC pass rate is recorded as part of the matter record. NYCF's certified examiners provide additional technical QC on any documents with forensic complexity.
Production Handoff
Documents cleared for production are exported in the format specified by counsel or by court order: Native files, TIFF, PDF, or Bates-stamped sets with full load files, privilege logs, and redaction logs included. Delivery is accompanied by a production cover letter describing the format, hash values, and document counts, meeting the production requirements of SDNY and EDNY standing orders and NY court ESI practice requirements.
Full Feature List: All Included at Flat Rate
Every feature below is available from the moment a workspace is opened in Advantage Plus. There are no add-on modules, no AI upcharges, and no per-user seat fees that scale unexpectedly with team size. This matters particularly for NY law firms managing eDiscovery costs as client disbursements: the cost is predictable from engagement to production.
AI-Assisted Queues
Responsiveness prioritization with explained confidence scores. Privilege and near-privilege routing with mandatory human confirmation. Hot document flagging for early case strategy. Iterative model training based on reviewer feedback. Validation reports showing precision, recall, and elusion metrics for defensibility in court.
Privilege and Redaction
Automated privilege log generation with all fields required by NY and federal courts. Rule 502(d) clawback support with auto-generated notices. Automated PII/PHI redaction patterns including NY SHIELD Act-covered personal data categories. Reviewer-confirmed redaction workflow. Redaction logs for every production set.
Modern Data and Media
Threaded messaging display for Slack, Teams, and similar platforms, showing conversations in native context. Audio transcription with timestamps and searchable text. Video transcription with timestamps. Foreign language translation for international documents common in NY financial sector litigation. Native file rendering for all standard formats.
Reporting and Collaboration
Real-time progress dashboards for partners and supervising attorneys. Per-reviewer throughput tracking for staffing decisions. In-platform document comments that stay in the matter record. Escalation flag tracking with resolution documentation. Matter record export for court submissions and expert declarations.
Defensibility and Audit Trail
Every action in Advantage Plus is logged: document opens, coding decisions, reviewer identity, timestamps, AI queue assignments, human overrides, privilege log entries, redaction applications, and QC checks. That audit trail is retrievable and exportable for any matter.
NYCF can produce a complete methodology report for any review showing how the AI was configured and validated, which reviewers handled which documents, what QC found, and how privilege decisions were recorded. NY and federal courts have increasingly asked for this level of documentation in complex commercial matters, securities litigation, and government investigations. Advantage Plus is built to provide it without additional work at the time of production, keeping counsel in compliance with evolving court expectations around technology-assisted review.
